I'm debating whether or not I should see The Da Vinci Code this summer. It looks like a very intriguing movie and it is only entertainment. It is certainly not fact, but it appears to be a very entertaining plotline. I also got Hotel Rwanda from the library this week. It is a very powerful movie. It is very sad to see how the Rwandan genocide occurred unhindered by the United Nations. I suggest this movie for all people to see. It is very powerful.

I've also started the novel The Sum of All Fears. It clocks in at 914 pages, making it the biggest book I will ever have read. I've also started writing a new oneshot short story that I plan to put on FanFiction.Net once I finish it up. It's about World War III and I currently have around four pages of it completed. The title is August 16, 2027 - 16:35:07. My title is the exact date and time in which a nuclear missile hits, though I can't tell you what missile. The story is told from first person.

Anyways, I need to finish up some more of my homework. I have to write a reflection for The Long Walk Home for History, write two Health journals, and write an Honors Bio Project Proposal that's due tomorrow. So, I gotta get to work. See ya.

Sunday, April 02, 2006

That has to be one of the best Tetelestai pictures ever. I'll talk more about Mansfield later. But isn't that pic awesome?

Wednesday, March 29, 2006

Well, I hope to put up a ton of pictures from tour. I just need to get Dad to upload the photos onto the computer so I can put them on the Xanga. Meanwhile, I'm not going to make it to youth group tonight. I will definitely be there next week. Tonight, I have quite a bit of homework. I have to work on my research paper since the note cards and bibliography cards are due on Friday and I don't have any. I need to work on some Honors Bio stuff, and then there's the typical Algebra 2 homework that I hate.

I hope to be getting an iTunes account so I can buy songs on there. I was looking through the music store last night and I was freaking out with all of the really awesome praise and worship songs that they have on there. They have He Reigns, God of Wonders, Here I Am to Worship. But they also have Letters From War. That's the Mark Schultz tune where he talks about a soldier in a war who writes letters to his mother. It is one of the best songs ever. And then there's the sole Skillet song that I know, Collide, which Sharon burned for me on a CD (thanks!).

Anyways, I'll probably eat something and then get started on all of this research. Yay. See ya.

Monday, March 27, 2006

Get ready for a long entry post, as I'm probably going to go into long details about everything we did in North Carolina.

On Sunday morning, we left at about 8:15. We discovered on the bus that Leah is afraid of pictures, which is ironic since she is OCD for scrapbooking. Anyways, the bus ride was long and semi-painful. When we got to the Cove Camp, our tour bus was taking this tight curve up a hill. We all looked at the right side of the bus and saw a tree coming closer and closer to the window. We all yelled "Tree!" at the same time. Let's just say the bus needed a new window. And a new side panel. Ouch. That night at the Cove we played a game of Adventure Ball. I won't go into details, but Kate ran into Meredith. Kate came away with a black eye, a sprained ankle, and a sprained knee. Meredith busted her nose pretty good. The cabins we slept in were pretty nice. In my cabin was Adam Butler, Eric Heuer, Ian McDonald, David Puffenberger, Joe Long, Grant Dilley, and Andrew Klinksick. Very interesting first night.

It monsooned for most of the day on Monday. Thankfully, the first couple hours were relatively dry. Me and Adam went down to shoot BB guns. Those freaking ducks wouldn't die! It was really annoying. We all kept hitting them and they wouldn't fall over. After we returned to the main dining hall, it began to pour rain. I pity the people in the rappelling group. They were all soaked when they got back. adam and I also played a couple games of Ping Pong. I won the first game 24-22. Adam won the second 22-20. We didn't get to play a third to determine the better Ping Pong player. That night, we did a shortened version of Tetelestai for the Cove staff. It was about 45 minutes long and it was very interesting. After that, Russ gave this really awesome talk about "faithing" and how the word faith is originally derived from a verb. You can believe something. It's when you act on that belief when you begin to faith it. It was really cool.

Tuesday was kind of uninteresting. We didn't do too much all day. We left the Cove after dinner and headed for Hickory. My host family was hosting me and five other people. It was me, Adam, Joe Barley, Joe Long, Erik Bobbitt, and Klinksick. It was actually pretty cool. We stayed up until one in the morning watching The Last Samurai. I swear it's a rule of thumb in movies that you just can't kill Tom Cruise.

Wednesday was a mixed day. The first part of the day sucked. We went to this really cheesy town called Blowing Rock. It was freezing cold and nothing was open. After that, we went to Lenoir-Rhyne College, where we were doing our show. The show was actually done on a real stage, which made it very interesting. Publicity actually had a job for tech-in. Me and Eric went around the campus handing out flyers for the show that night. The show itself was beyond awesome. There was just something about it that was cool. It really felt like God was working through all of us. Everyone did a great job and it just felt different somehow. That night when we got back to our host family, we started Hotel Rwanda, but I fell asleep during it. What I saw was very good.

Thursday was a relatively good day. We left Hickory for Charlotte. Once there, we did some tech-in. Tech didnt' take long, so some people went to this mall in Charlotte. The mall itself was just okay, but they had a pretty good bookstore. While there, I picked up the next 24 Declassified novel, Season One of Batman Beyond, and I found the soundtrack for I, Robot. The show that night went very well. It was definitely my best crying yet for the crucifixion. After the show, I actually met one of my dad's old college friends, which was very interesting. Me and Adam were one of three groups that were paired up with another for host families that night.

Friday was pretty boring. There was no show. We went to our next church in Charlotte for tech-in. After we got done, a group of us were allowed to go the the movies. Me, Adam, Sharon, Kate, Ian, Leah, and Eric went to see Firewall. It was pretty good. I give it three out of five. I would have given it four except for three things. 1) Corniest ending imaginable. 2) Kids were annoying in it. 3) They needed to give Chloe way more screen time! There was this one awesome part where Harrison Ford repeatedly whacked this guy in the head with a blender and killed him. For host families, it was just me and Adam that night. We had a middle-aged couple and they were pretty cool. We got to spend a bit more time with them.

I was on Cloud Nine on Saturday. During the day, we went to Paramount's Carowinds theme park. I went on the four craziest roller coasters of my life there. The first one was called the Borg Assimilator. On this coaster, you're laying down. You go up the first hill facing out while going up head first. Once at the top, you don't start down the hill fast. The coaster inverts so that you are facing straight down. Totally insane. I don't remember too many details about that one. Just that it was awesome. There were a total of eight inversions on it. The next coaster was Vortex. It was a standing coaster. It was just okay compared to the other ones. Next on the list is the Carolina Cyclone. Me, Adam, and Leah rode it five, count 'em, FIVE times. It's the Corkscrew, except way better. You start up a hill, and at the top, you turn around and start a slow decline, then you go down the hill. You hit one loop, then another. You turn around and hit a corkscrew going over the boardwalk where people are. Next up it my personal favorite, Top Gun. This is one where your feet are hanging. There were six inversions on this, with two corkscrews and two places where you went in tunnels underground. We rode that twice.

That night's performance was good, but problematic. The set was a deathtrap. It was sitting up three steps off of the main floor. Not good. The Last Supper scene was also extremely interesting. Drew sits on my right and he's the last one on the right. That night, he was on Stage Left. So there's this huge space on my right and there are six people crammed on Stage Left. The water in the cup was replaced with banana pepper juice as a prank. But when Tim got up to go after Judas, he kicked it over, spilling it all over the set. Leah couldn't get a mike for "It It I, Lord?", and just about everyone forgot the words to Psalm 118. For the record, I did not. After the show, I got to see my Aunt Martha and Uncle Jack who came up from South Carolina to see it. That was also awesome.

Sunday back was uneventful. It was an extremely long bus ride. That's about it. Not too much happened yesterday. After I got home, I did get to watch Prison Break and 24, which was cool. What was surprising was the I really didn't think about either of them all week. And all week I freaked everyone out with my Agent Smith impressions. Anyways, this is without doubt my longest entry yet. And it took me about a half hour to write it. I hope to come to youth group on Wednesday. See ya.

Sunday, March 19, 2006

Adios, amigos. This is my last post for a week since I am going to North Carolina for our Tetelestai road trip! Awesome! I'll tell you all about last night's show and performance.

We got there at around 5. We had dinner and then we did all of the makeup stuff. I forgot how much I hate body makeup. Anyways, we started the show at 7:30. The first part of Act One was a technical nightmare. The light didn't come up on Mallory for her solo, John the Baptist's music played into the first part of Repent, and Believe started about ten seconds late. I also completely screwed up my first stuff in Act One. Since I've been sick all week, my voice literally cracked when I was going into falsetto on Remeber, and my voice went clear out the window for the first two Hosanas, so I had to mouth them. Act Two went very well, however. I thought that I did my best job yet on the crucifixion scene, and everyone did great. Our only screwup was the apostles at curtain call. We didn't really discuss what we were doing, so two unnamed apostles actually weren't even up there for the bow. Matt Bowersox gave the cast talk, and he did very well.

But the best part of the night was after the show. Both of my parents had come, along with my dad's mom and mom's dad. I had invited my aunt and uncle but didn't expect them to come. My Uncle Kevin is kind of atheistic. But he actually came! I couldn't believe that he came, so that was really, really awesome. Now I hope my Aunt Martha will be coming to one of my North Carolina shows. She lives in South Carolina just south of the NC border. Anyways, I'll see you all later. Have a great week.

Thursday, March 16, 2006

Okay, so I've been sick for the last few days, so that's why I haven't posted at all. I went to the doctor's on Monday, and it turns out that I have a throat infection. He prescribed some antibiotics and I've been taking them for the last three or four days. I went to school today. Homework load wasn't as bad as I was expecting. There's quite a bit in Bio, but I managed to get a lot done in class today. English homework is to turn in the vocab journals, and I only have to do three of them. So that's not too hard. I missed Senior Choir pictures, and that utterly sucks. Algebra 2 seems pretty easy, I just have to take a test over sections 14.1 and 14.2. Otherwise, I just need to ask some questions and I'm good. History is basically nothing, and in Health, we started a project that's not due until after Spring Break. Spanish was a bunch of worksheets and a speaking assessment that I had to make up today. There's a quiz tomorrow and I'll probably have to take it since Sr. Wertx made me take the speaking thing today.

Speaking of Spring Break, hopefully I'll be better for our road trip to North Carolina. For Tetelestai! My roommate this year is Adam Butler, so that's awesome. One of the more interesting pairs is Maggie Apel and Joanna Morehart. Our first show is tomorrow night in Dayton. We're not projected to get home until 12:45. That really sucks. The problem is that we're the drama and the tech crew. So we have to strike the set after the play is over. This is not an easy undertaking. I'm on Publicity crew this year, but when we're not doing home shows, we're additions to the House crew, and they take care of the building. We clean up after the show, make sure that makeup didn't get anywhere, paper the walls so makeup doesn't get on the walls, that kind of thing.

Haven't gotten any comments on the new Spidey look. I had to switch the picture because the link was all screwy. I changed it to the teaser pic for the upcoming Spider-Man 3, due out on May 4, 2007. Also, tell me what you think of the site title. Because I came up with that tagline, and I actually think that it's pretty good. You all should see the MTV Spider-Man series. Even though it's MTV, it's still pretty awesome. One thing that's interesting is that Peter Parker/Spider-Man is voiced by a noticably lower voice. Spider-Man seems to often be played by a tenor. The look of the series is very interesting, as it is totally CGI. Anyways, not much else to say. See ya.
